2007 - Director/ Cinematographer/ Writer FOUR FEET UP - Feature Documentary, Producer Annette Clarke, NFB - In production A look at child poverty in rural Canada through the eyes of 8 year old Isaiah Jackson. Ackerman is following Isaiah from the moment he wakes up on November 24th (the anniversary of the promise by the federal government to end Child Poverty by the year 2000) and throughout the year. Using her stunning imagery and video from Isaiah's own personal camera, Four Feet Up will give the audience a visceral, primal sense of life below the poverty line for a child in Canada. Whether that leaves the viewer with a greater appreciation for the struggle or questioning their own beliefs, priorities and prejudices, this film aims to affect change. |

Fidelis, who entertains residents at the Villa St Joseph du Lac home for the elderly with her elegance and piano recitals every day, travels from her room atop the converted CN Hotel down to her beloved organ to play. The organ was given to her by her daughter years ago, just before Leukemia took her life. |

2006 - Director/ Writer/ Co-Composer, Soundtrack COTTONLAND - Just six months after its Premiere at the HotDocs Film Festival in Toronto, Nance's directorial debut, the NFB documentary film, Cottonland has already won three awards. The thought provoking and visually powerful film explores the 'society of dependence' created by industry in small towns in Cape Breton, through the eyes of ex-prescription drug addict, Eddie Buchanan. As well, Ackerman collaborated with her partner, Jamie Alcorn, to create the lyrically potent soundtrack (www.heartstringproductions.ca). Winning Best Atlantic Documentary, Best Director and Best Cinematographer (Alain Dupras) accolades, this film is only the beginning of Ackerman's directing career. |

| 2005 - Subject/Host LEGACY - CBC Documentary In spring 2005, three of Canada's best known photographers were given a challenge: seven days to come up with a photo essay that best illustrates the struggle and triumph of people who choose to stay and make a living in rural Canada. For this CBC documentary, "Legacy", Nance photographed the people of Hazelton. B.C. Images from this photo essay are now on display at the "Contact" photo exhibit in Toronto. |
