Womankind is a journey by two Canadian women into the lives of activist women all over the world. In our ever-shrinking global village, women are reaching out to each other, forming alliances across oceans and trying to make the world a better place for them and their children.

Dramatic portraits appear alongside poignant essays and quotes in a large format book, website, and an accompanying exhibit that looks into the minds and faces of women who make a difference in their communities. (see samples)

A Journal of their travels, updated as they go out to meet, interview, and photograph these remarkable women, is published here.

The photographs are in the style that Nance Ackerman has become known for across the country - evocative, powerful and dignified. Using medum format, and natural light - the portraits act as a window into the lives of these remarkable women.

Writer/editor Donna Nebenzahl adds her writing talents to the project - recording each woman's words and creating an essay that will transport the reader inside each woman's world.
